This organization serves the public in providing educational learning opportunities. One such offering through the Consumer & Family Sciences Programming is Raising Healthy Eaters; a nutritional curriculum for parents or other adult caregivers of young children to develop healthy eating habits. It utilizes the learner centered approach to build on the experience and knowledge within the group, engage learners in activities and discussion, and support learners in adopting positive behaviors.
Key Outcomes: Parents provide a variety of food for children in appropriate amounts. Parents offer food to children at routine meals and snacks. Parents set appropriate limits (such as TV turned off during meals, sit in kitchen to eat, offer only water between meals and snacks). Parents model healthy eating. Children are allowed to decide how much to eat or whether to eat. Children increase their intake of vegetables and fruits. Children increase the variety of vegetable they eat. Children decrease the intake of sweetened beverages
If you would like to have this educational workshop brought to your group or have further questions contact Joy Dugan, Consumer and Family Sciences Extension Educator.
